RAABTA-SIP Description
Leader’s Quest
Leaders’ quest is a platform for the leaders to engage in a conversation with development professionals, social sector leaders, and other school leaders aimed a t school improvement and development strategies. The platform also allows schools to involve their 2nd and 3rd tier of leadership to build skills and competencies. It also serves as an opportunity for existing school leaders to build on their capacity through immersion programmes at our lab schools.
Mentorship
The mentorship module is an innovative approach towards studies using a robust self-study mechanism. Its design engages students at a holistic level. The mechanism tracks a child’s growth on various strands and enables the mentor to provide practical and concrete guidance. It leverages technology to provide real-time analysis of a child’s pattern of study and expected growth potential. The mechanism allows students to be morally, ethically, mentally and physically sound human beings.
Literacy and Numeracy
Literacy and numeracy are essential milestones during a child’s foundational growth period. The numeracy module begins from basic building blocks systematically transitioning from concrete to pictorial and then to abstract, allowing the child to visualize and learn the involved concepts. The literacy module uses language as a tool to engage with the child. It begins with thematic conversations to build interest in the child and then transitions into alphabets, words, and vocabulary building.
Teacher’s Quest
Teachers’ quest is a professional development program aimed at continuous and consistent improvement in teaching and learning practices. It begins with a six-day learning workshop in the first year of intervention and progresses with periodic training scheduled at regular intervals. Regular observation and feedback form a critical component of th program. Certifications to teachers for successful completion of the training and workshops conclude the program.
Parents’ Quest
Parents’ quest is an initiative to build holistic educational literacy among parents. It is a form of engagement to drive the idea of good holistic education for their children and their role in it. It enables the parents to engage, learn, and share concrete actions to strengthen themselves for their child’s better future.
Health and Wellness
A healthy mind and a sound heart promote learning. Therefore, health and wellness become an integral part of our intervention. The module allows introspecting on the overall health of the school, including its students, teachers, staff, and leaders. It acts as an indicator for the school to develop systems to ensure a healthy and inclusive learning atmosphere. It also provides ways and measures to create a thriving and enriching learning environment.
What?
Raabta ( Hindi: राब्ता, Urdu: رابطہ ) is an Urdu word of Arabic origin which means a connection, relation, contact. Raabta is, therefore, a connection between multiple stakeholders responsible for a child’s holistic education. It is a process that involves improvement in all levers of the functioning of a school towards imparting a successful educational program. It brings together findings from national & international research into the practices of highly effective schools and school leaders. The ultimate goal is to improve outcomes for students, including levels of achievement and wellbeing.
How?
Intervention in the school begins with a school review along with a sample literacy and numeracy assessment of the students. A report with the finndings and recommendations are given based on high, intermediate, and low priority needs according to the context of the school. A collaborative school improvement plan is framed, followed by a series of professional development opportunities for the teachers and leaders over the year. Observation and feedback mechanisms are provided to improve and enhance learning. The year of intervention concludes with student assessments and celebration to recognize the efforts of the teachers.
